And note the Transvaal Staats Artelerie bandolier worn by the man wielding the revolver. It has been modified to have single flaps above the individual pouches or is one of the few made like that.

One of the scarce ZAR Staatsartillerie bandoliers. This example with the double flaps cut in half.

Attached label inscribed: "Boer Bandolier taken from a Boer coming in to surrender north of Standerton, S.Africa 1900 (1901?) / J.C. Pearse, Major 4th Cavalry 26.6.21".

2nd Lieut. John Cecil Pearse served with the 2nd Bn. Devonshire Regiment in South Africa, and subsequently joined the Indian Staff Corps.

KR, you rightly mention how rare photos are of unholstered Webley Mk IVs.
Terry Willson makes the same observation in his chapter on British handguns in Ron Bester "Small Arms of the Anglo Boer War". Here is a photo from Terry's chapter

But have a look at this,

at 40 seconds look at the top of the frame.
The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.

An amazing piece, and in exceptionally good condition. Is this a part of your collection?

Purchased way back in 1991 for the princely sum of 65 GBP.

Beyond the provenance, I had no idea that it was anything special at the time.
