It is good to see how the monument has fared since my last visit in 1978, when it was still under construction. It seems little has changed in terms of signposting and the condition of the road. Is it possible to access the east end of the Platrand now? Back in the 1970s we needed keys to a locked gate.

Hi Neville,

I thought of you yesterday when I was standing at the memorial. I recalled those excellent posts of yours from their exhumations.

By pure chance I photographed the grave stones that are in your post; they are in excellent condition.

The eastern gate had a lock on it but it was unlocked at the time, we then left by going through the Platrand Resort; I suspect the route we were supposed to take.
