Hello Mike,
Forgot to add, I spent ten minutes this morning wondering what F.Y.I. was!
Was I right in thinking all ranks carried the Colt? if yes, does the museum in Calgary have any examples in their collection?
I assume the regt lost their horse's years ago, I think they "ride" rather teutonic Leopard 2's now do they not? :(I prefer horse's! :woohoo: )
Regards Frank

Hi Frank.....

Sorry I thought that I had answered the question about the pistol....

Direct from the Routine Orders / War Diary that I am re-typing....

Arms: The following will be the arms carried by the men:-

1 Lee-Enfield, .303 Rifle
1 Sword Bayonet
1 .44 Colt Revolver
Provisional Field Service Manuals showing the Equipment required, and how carried, will be issued, 1 copy per Officer and 1 copy per Squadron.

With regards to the Horses..... They may be gone but they are not forgotten....

Hi Mike,
Well I see from the link there are still a few horse's left! :woohoo: much nicer and better looking, though, not as pactical, as those Leopards, they don't spout depleted uranium everywhere either!
Best regards Frank
